I use the US Department of Health & Human Services - Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) - holistic wellness model which divides up personal wellness into the following categories: environmental, financial, occupational, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical.
"A healthy body... good physical health habits... nutrition, exercise, and appropriate health care"(SAMHSA, 2016).
"Involves having healthy relationships with friends, family... the community, and having an interest in... the needs of others and humankind" (SAMHSA, 2016).
"Involves the ability to express feelings, adjust to emotional challenges, cope with life’s stressors, and enjoy life" (SAMHSA, 2016).
"Involves participating in activities that provide meaning and purpose... reflect personal values, interests, and beliefs, including employment" (SAMHSA, 2016).
"Things such as income, debt, and savings, as well as a person’s understanding of financial processes and resources. A person’s satisfaction with their current financial situation and future prospects" (SAMHSA, 2016).
"Involves many things that keep our brains active and our intellect expanding. In a broad sense, this dimension can involve looking at different perspectives of an issue and taking them into consideration" (SAMHSA, 2016).
"A broad concept that represents one’s personal beliefs and values and involves having meaning, purpose, and a sense of balance/peace" (SAMHSA, 2016).
"Being able to be safe and feel safe" (SAMHSA, 2016).

"... that focuses on love and forgiveness can reduce anxiety, depression and substance abuse, and foster well-being" (Walsh, 2011).
A deep & accessible book for anyone interested to learn more about integrating their body, mind, heart, and soul. The authors provide evidence from research-based sources (i.e., Eastern and Western spiritual practices) and personal experiences that may transform how you experience the world.
If you are interested in actively integrating ethical reflection into your daily life, check this book out. Through accessible personal stories & professional insights, Deborah Adele reviews a list of core ethical principals from Patanjali's Yogasutras.
Regenerative, therapeutic lifestyle change may be closer than you think...
An explorer's journey - follow alongside Siddhartha as he commits to a life of truth-seeking activities. Hermann Hesse poignantly describes Sidharrtha's learning adventures via descriptive allegories - including listening to the "wisdom of the river."
This book contains "magical realism" and explores the rich intersection of spirituality, human suffering, and how humans can use yoga to achieve unity with the divine.
A coming of age book that is well suited for anyone who feels an un-quenchable thirst for life, but unsure of where to start.
Read this book if you enjoy spending time in nature.
