PERSONAL: Outside of my work as a therapist, I am a husband to a loving & supportive wife and a father of three lively children. I wholeheartedly enjoy spending time in nature & identify as a yogi. In my free time, you may see me trail running, playing golf or disc golf, on a soccer pitch or playing basketball, tennis, or pickleball :)
EDUCATIONAL: I was born in Council Bluffs, IA; grew up in Omaha; attended St. Roberts grade school and Skutt Catholic High School ('04). After high school, I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Biology ('09) from the University of Nebraska - Omaha, and completed one year of Master's level work in Elementary Education and Teaching at Oregon State University ('10). After returning to Omaha, I completed a Master of Science in Community Counseling at the University of Nebraska - Omaha ('13) and a Doctoral degree in Health Promotion & Disease Prevention from the University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Public Health ('22).
My passion for athletics has existed ever since I can remember. Fortunately, there were several of my family members who lived according to a balanced set of values. Wearing many hats, Grandpa Swede (pictured above) was a son, brother, father, husband, Marine & Korean War vet, longstanding educator/community leader in Oakland, NE & golf coach for 23 years - leading his teams to 13 total state championships.
Swede's favorite saying in golf?
"Hit the damn ball."
Needless to say, Grandpa Swede continues to be an inspiration for my work as a therapist & caddie.
